Forcast predicts a frost tonight, 10/21, so I harvested some greens, end of the tomatoes and peppers, basil and parsley and some flowers. House smells like basil and marigolds. I put the rest of the greens and lettuce under a row cover. The failed corn field came up in wild amaranth. Perhaps the earth is trying to feed us in her own way.

Late Summer Garden

While the spring garden was good, summer has yet to produce much. Maybe we had too much rain and cool weather. Tomatoes are big and green, but little red. Peppers have no blooms, and sweet corn barely came up. The field corn is only knee high. Okra is going and feeding us well, I wish I had 10 rows! The Amaranth was eaten early by a bug, but recovered!

Wild Petunia

A wild petunia sprouted near the vegtable garden. I am going to try and move it to the herb garden.

Take it from a Kentucky dirt farmer, derby pie should be a rhubarb strawberry pie, both coming on in the garden and oh so good!
